This replaces the 8 to 9 pin switch found on most Vanagons thru 1989. In 1989 VW began to transition to a 10 pin switch, which is unfortunately no longer available. If you have a 1989-90 Vanagon we suggest checking the number of pins on your old switch before ordering. (You can also go by part number. if your existing switch has either no letter on the end of the part number, or ends with A, B, C, D, K, or M, this is the one you need.)
