These are made by a well established Italian brake specialist who is factory certified by Ferrari (among other performance brands) - not an easy certification to get. While they won't turn your Vanagon into a Ferrari, they will make it stop better than anything else out there. Well worth the money. We have to import them from Europe ourselves (when we can get them at all), but it's worth it, since virtually all other '86-up Vanagon brake pads are now Chinese made (even if sold under German and US brand names) and nowhere near this quality.
The next step down from these would be the $13.95 pads linked below, which (as mentioned above) come from a venerable German brand but are now Chinese made. There is really nothing between those $13.95 pads and these $54.95 ones that is any better than the cheaper ones. As of this update, we have a few German OEM Ate pads left as well, also linked below.
