Poptop Seal - OEM German Westfalia

Imported from Germany exclusively by the Bus Depot, this is brand new OEM Westfalia production using modern materials and tooling.  Historically the original Westfalia seal was known for rusting because the internal clips were not aluminum (compared to our Bus Depot version, linked below, which does use aluminum clips and won't rust).  On this modern production the internal metal clips still aren't aluminum, but the German manufacturer claims that new extrusion technology (which impregnates the metal into the EPDM material while still hot) protects the metal against rusting and greatly extends its life.  (Of course it will probably be ten years before you get to test their claim, as even the original lasted about that long.)

Both versions of the seal (this OEM one and our Bus Depot repro linked below) will do an equally effective job of sealing your poptop, so it's really up to you which you prefer. While we've sold the Bus Depot one for decades, choice is not a bad thing, so now that the OEM one is improved we decided to offer both and leave it up to you. Comparing this OEM seal to our Bus Depot seal, each has advantages...

- Only this OEM seal is a single four-sided piece, just like the original, with molded corners. This makes it the best seal for a concourse-quality restoration where you want the seal to completely stock. The Bus Depot seal looks much closer to stock than any other aftermarket seal (both in terms of fit and cosmetic finish), but it is still not dead-on.  Like all aftermarket replacements it consists of two pieces - a three-sided seal and a flat front seal (sold separately and linked below, or combined with our luggage rack seal to form a complete kit, also linked below) that combine to go around all four sides of your poptop. Once you butt the two sections up against each other, it's difficult (but not impossible) to notice that they are not actually once piece.

-  Both of our seals - this OEM one and the Bus Depot version - are easier to install than the versions sold elsewhere. They just clip onto all four sides. No need to use glue, which can be messy and make the seal difficult to remove in the future. By comparison, all of our competitors' aftermarket seals require you to glue the front section (facing the luggage rack) to your poptop.

- The Bus Depot seal uses aluminum clips that will never rust. The OEM seal uses non-aluminum clips, which the German manufacturer claims are highly rust resistant due to their new extrusion process. (See paragaph above.)

- The Bus Depot kit is cheaper. For $10 less than the price of the OEM poptop seal alone (which does not include the luggage rack seal, sold separately), the complete $79 Bus Depot kit includes a new luggage rack seal as well.
